SEC Life Sciences

SEC Life Sciences connects pharmaceutical, biotech and medtech companies with the people who move their science forward, across Europe and the US. With close to forty years behind them, the brand needed to catch up with the business. Halt delivered the rebrand and the website designs that brought it to life.

The Brief

SEC Life Sciences has a rare thing in recruitment: real longevity. Close to four decades of placing talent across research and development, clinical and medical, data and technology, technical operations and commercial roles, working with pharma, biotech, CROs, medical device businesses and their investors.

A history like that is an asset, and it comes with a particular challenge. Life sciences is a fast-moving, science-led industry, and the brand needed to speak to the people driving it today. SEC wanted an identity that carried the authority of forty years while feeling contemporary, credible and at home alongside the innovators they serve.

The website needed to follow. SEC had an existing site to modernise, so the brief was to design something that lifted it substantially while working within what was already there. It also had to hold a lot: three service models, five disciplines, five sectors, and audiences across both Europe and the US.

In short, a rebrand with somewhere to live.

Our Actions

The rebrand came first. The new identity was built to feel modern and scientific while carrying the weight of a business with forty years of relationships behind it. That balance is the whole job on a rebrand of this kind, because the equity built over decades is far too valuable to walk away from, and a brand that looks dated does the business no favours in a sector defined by innovation.

With the identity settled, Halt designed the website. The designs and skins took the new brand and worked out how it should behave online: how the three service models sit together, how five disciplines and five sectors are organised so a clinical director and a data scientist each find their way quickly, and how a business serving both Europe and the US presents itself to two markets at once.

Designing to modernise an existing site is its own discipline. The work has to lift the whole thing meaningfully while fitting the platform it will live on, which takes a clear head about what will make the biggest difference.

Our Results

SEC Life Sciences came away with a brand that matches the business behind it, and it is the brand the company still uses today.

That longevity is the best endorsement a rebrand can have. Plenty of identities get replaced within a couple of years because they were built for a moment. This one was built for the business, and it has held up.

The website designs gave SEC a clear route to modernising their site, with the new brand properly applied and the structure worked out around how life science hiring actually happens.

For a company with close to forty years of history, refreshing a brand is a decision that takes some courage. It is a pleasure to have delivered something SEC were happy to build on.
