Verum Recruitment

Verum Recruitment builds business-critical technology teams, covering development, DevOps, testing, architecture, data and project management. Martyn Edwards founded the business on a simple promise: tech recruitment without the fuss. Halt created the brand identity and the one-page site to launch it, with social assets and collateral following later in the first year.

The Brief

Martyn Edwards knew exactly what he was building, and he had summed it up in five words: tech recruitment without the fuss.

That promise made the brief unusually clear. Verum’s whole appeal is transparency and plain dealing, the sort of business where clients say things like no sales waffle, straight talking, easy to talk to. A brand full of flourishes would have contradicted the proposition before anyone read a word.

So the identity had to be clean, confident and completely free of the usual recruitment gloss, while still looking like a business that hiring managers in technology would trust with a business-critical role. Understated and credible at the same time, which is harder to pull off than it sounds.

The website followed the same logic. Martyn wanted a one-page brochure site: everything a visitor needs, on one page, with no hunting about.

Our Actions

Chris Cranshaw created the brand identity, working directly with Martyn.

The result is deliberately uncluttered. It carries enough character to be memorable and enough restraint to match the promise Verum makes, which for this business is precisely the right balance. It also had to work for a founder-led company, where the brand and the person behind it are closely tied together.

The one-page site was built to do the whole job in a single scroll. Who Verum are, what they cover across development, DevOps, testing, architecture, data and project management, live roles, the testimonials that say more than any marketing copy could, and a clear route to getting in touch. A visitor gets the full picture in under a minute, which is exactly what a business promising no fuss should offer.

Later in that first year, Matthew Ley delivered the social assets and collateral, giving Martyn the material to promote the business consistently once it was up and running.

Our Results

Verum launched with a brand and a site that make the same promise the business does, which is the most useful thing a start-up brand can do.

The one-page site has stood the test of time. It is still what Verum use, still doing its job, and there has been no need to add pages for the sake of it. For a business built on being easy to deal with, a site a visitor can read in a minute is the honest expression of that.

The social assets and collateral gave Martyn what he needed to keep the brand visible through the first year, without having to think about design every time something needed producing.

Sometimes the right answer is a small, well-made one. Verum is a good example of that, and it has served the business well.
