Why we don’t use white label services

  • Internal News

Wearing one of many hats in my role at Halt., when I am speaking to prospective new clients, one of the common questions I’m asked is, “Are any of your services outsourced or white-labelled from other suppliers?”

It’s a fair question, especially when white labelling and outsourcing have become a go-to strategy for many agencies. It allows them to scale quickly and cost-effectively, expand their service offerings, and even make a tidy margin, all without the need to roll up their sleeves to do the heavy lifting.

But at Halt, we’re not about that life!

While we respect agencies that successfully pull it off, we’ve built our entire approach on being hands-on, accountable, and deeply invested in our work. Passing it off to someone else, even under the guise of our brand/name, just isn’t our style.

Let me explain.

Ownership

We’re all about keeping it under our own roof

We love the idea that when you engage and hire us, you’re getting us. That means everything we deliver is created from start-to-finish by our in-house team in Bristol. It’s not sourced, borrowed, or quietly handed off to someone you’ve never met to deliver on our behalf.

White labelling to us feels like the equivalent of buying a cake and pretending you baked it.

We’re proud to say that our clients know exactly who’s working on their project. They’ve met our team. They know our names. And yes, we’re the ones answering their questions, solving challenges, and owning every step of the project.

Quality Control

Because “Good Enough” just isn’t Good Enough!

Whether it’s the phrasing of a hero-message, the pixel-perfect alignment of a design, or a single line of code—every detail matters to us.

White labelling and outsourcing by its nature, involves handing over control. You have to trust that someone else will deliver something that lives up to your standards, even if their idea of “good” doesn’t quite match yours.

We prefer to keep everything under our own roof. It means we can guarantee the quality of what we deliver, down to the finest detail. No surprises, no compromises. Just work we’re proud to put our name on, and yours.

Accountability

If it’s broken, we’ll fix it

One of the biggest benefits of working directly with a business that doesn’t use a white-labelled service is knowing who to call when something goes wrong.

But with white labelling? It can feel like a game of who’s responsible? You call your agency/service provider they call the white label/outsource provider, and somewhere along the line, accountability gets lost in the process.

It’s simple: we own our work, which means we own any issues that may come with it. And while we’re confident in our track record, it’s nice for our clients to know that if things ever do go a little wayward, we’re the ones who’ll make it right.

Why fake it when you can collaborate?

We’re the first to admit we don’t do everything; we’ve hung our hat on what we do best, and we’re owning it.

When a client needs something outside our wheelhouse, we have many trusted friends and colleagues across the recruitment marketing and website space whom we call upon when a project needs specific expertise or a solution that we don’t offer in-house.

Whether a client is looking for a brand-elevating podcast series, a custom tech/API integration, or even a subscription-based SaaS website solution, we have friendships and trusted relationships with the very best in the game.

But in every case, we don’t sit in the middle, looking to make a referral fee or a percentage of the margin. We simply make the introduction and allow our clients to have a direct relationship with the respective agency or supplier. These relationships are built on shared ethics, values, years of trust, and an uncompromising commitment to quality.

To all the cold approaches we receive

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the daily bombardment of offers my team and I receive from automated lead-generation tools and outsourced website development to SEO & PPC services that “no one else in the market can offer.”

It’s flattering that so many companies see us as a potential partner, or more than likely we’re just one of several thousand companies on a database that’s getting battered with outreach tactics each day.

We’ve read them, we’ve likely smiled, and then, in most cases, unsubscribed and deleted them.

Because as tempting as those offers might sound, it’s a ‘thanks, but no thanks’ from us.

White labelling might work for other businesses, but for us, we feel it would dilute everything we’ve worked so hard to build.

So, in short: no, we don’t rebadge white-labelled services, we don’t resell, and we don’t outsource.

To all those salespeople that go scan through our content (or use Ai to do the heavy lifting) and then drop a cheeky reference to what they have seen us write about in their cold outreaches, please take this as a hint of what our response will be.
